I looked out at the butterfly bushes a couple of weeks ago. Some of the branches fell during a day or two of strong winds.
I didn’t like seeing how the bush lost those branches. A moment of despair didn’t hit me long at all. Immediately I thought about how I knew there was a good possibility the branches could be placed in the ground and new life could come forth.
I had tried putting cuttings into the ground a year or so ago. The branches didn’t bring forth any new life the last time I tried this. Maybe I wasn’t patient enough or maybe the conditions weren’t right for new growth the last time. I decided to try again.
My daughter saw the branches sticking out of the ground. Those branches looked dead. They looked as though new growth could not come forth. Faith told me those branches could produce new life. I asked her to leave the dead looking sticks be.
I walked out to water plants the other day. Joy filled my heart because two of the branches have new leaves growing on them!
It’s just like the an Easter Lily I had that took it’s good old time to bring forth blooms this year. Someone found out the Lily didn’t open up during Easter and they said, “Maybe it’ll just die.” It did not die! It bloomed later than expected but it bloomed. Beautiful white fragrant blooms were seen on the Lily this year.
We’re human and sometimes we can look at a situation or a person and we can feel like giving up on them. God gives us signs and wonders to help us know that He is able to make life spring forth when it looks like nothing but decay exists.
