I was pondering today on the fact that we do want to be carbon copies of Jesus. We want to be all He wants us to be.
We know that He doesn’t want us to be carbon copies of one another though or we’d all look alike, sound alike, and we’d all have the same fingerprints, wouldn’t we?
Whether you are a member of the body of Christ called to be used as a foot helping carry the body of Christ across the lands or whether you are called to be a mouth or a spokesperson for God do what you know He wants you to do and do it with all your might.
I believe it’s important for each of us to respect our differences. We were made different for a God’s purpose. If you see a brother that doesn’t think exactly the way you think don’t expect him to change just for you. As long as he is doing what God called him to do let him do it with all his might. Encourage him to follow God’s leading. If your sister doesn’t do things exactly the way you think she should be doing those things don’t tell her she’s doing it all wrong. Don’t even allow the devil to cause thoughts of division to come forth in your mind towards your fellow servants in Christ just because they don’t do what you want them to do when you want them to do things. As long as they are obedient to the Word of God and while they are loving others the way God wants them to love others encourage them.
Too many people in the body of Christ are God players. Too many Christians expect all people that call themselves Christians to walk around dressing the way they dress and doing the same things they do. I don’t believe this is God’s way. God doesn’t want us to be puppets on strings and He does not want us to be in control of everything everywhere all the time.
God wants us to realize He is in control. Let’s face it no one will ever be able to have more control than God anyway. God is the One who is really in control of all things. No one can do a better job at being Lord of All than Our God can.
God wants to be in charge of your life, your church, and your home. If you take up your cross to follow Jesus you will find it much easier to stop criticizing your brother. As you die to your own selfish desires you will be able to follow Christ showing more love than you’ve ever shown before.
Love does not demand it’s own way. Jesus didn’t walk around telling everyone they had to do what he wanted them to do. He called men and they freely chose to follow Him. God has always been a gentleman letting people decide whether or not they want to go with Him. How can we be carbon copies of Jesus if we don’t allow other people the freedom to choose how they are going to do things?
Give freedom and space to your fellow believers. Let them walk the walk God has called them to walk. Allow them to be different than you sometimes. It’s right and good to expect them to obey the Lord following Godly teachings. It is acceptable to hold them accountable to each other in ways the Scriptures say we should hold one another accountable. It is not okay to insist that they do everything our own way.
