Winners

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

I was recently reminded of the Lilly plant that did grow even though it blossomed after Easter.

I recalled hearing someone pessimistically state that they guessed the Lilly would die.  We may have days when things just don’t look like all is going to turn out very well.  As a matter of fact we know there are times when things don’t turn out the way we want them to.

It does not help to believe bad reports.  It isn’t a good thing to let negative thoughts permeate our being.

Some of us have a fighting spirit that says,  “I want it to live.  I want the plant to survive.”  Those are the same kind of words spoken at times when someone is diagnosed with cancer or some other dreaded disease.  We hear the bad report about a health issue and our fighting response comes forth.  We start saying,  “I want my friend to live!”

No wonder Adam was placed in a garden when time began. We can learn much about life by working with plants.

When I work with plants I call on God asking for His help to get those plants growing.  One person may place seeds in the ground.  Another person may water the plants. God is the one that causes the plant to grow.

You can be a winner.  You can thrive.  You can bear good fruit, too!

If you want to succeed concerning the things of God it is imperative that you do things God’s way.

The Lord must have me recall the basic things a Christian needs to do in order to serve HIM fully.  There are Scriptural things I was taught and these things come to my mind when I write or speak about God.

God wants people to succeed.  It keeps coming to my mind that in order to succeed in God’s way one must realize that God’s Kingdom is not of this world.

Look at John the Baptist.  He was beheaded for what he believed in.  He simply told the truth.  He told Herod it wasn’t right for him to have his brother’s wife, Herodias.  Herodias was so angry that she looked for an opportune time to get John killed.  She was so sick she asked her own daughter to make the request for John’s head.  John wasn’t seeking the temporary things this world has to offer or he wouldn’t have risked making that woman angry at him.

I’m guessing that Christian people are not always going to look like winners while they walk on this earth.  We already know that some people who call themselves Christians don’t even fear God.  Some of the so-called Christians only care about how much money is in their bank account and how much they’ll have when they reach the age of retirement.  They must have forgotten that their life may be required of them long before they reach that age.  When they see Jesus face to face will it matter how much was in their bank account?

Real Christians don’t just talk about doing the right thing they do the right things.  If they’ve made mistakes they do absolutely everything they can to correct those mistakes.  I met a man that was a real winner in my book.  He became a Christian and later remembered he had stolen something.  As a bonafide Christian he made restitution for whatever it was he had stolen.  This story is not a new idea.  There are people who love God so much they will do everything they can to correct things of their past.

A man that calls himself a Christian asked me to pray with him that God would help him correct things of his past.  This man quoted Scripture about how he wanted God to complete the work in him that God had first begun.  Now this man was no stranger to me.  I had gotten to know him well enough to know some of the things he needed to correct.  I prayed with the man but the man showed absolutely no signs that he was going to do the right things to correct past sins against God and man.  Maybe someday he really will get serious about doing the right thing.  Maybe he will wait until he hears cancer struck him or something like that.  What if he doesn’t have time to know before he is going to die?  What if he isn’t given a way to make those things right before he passes from this life into the next?

I know we can’t control another person’s life.  If we could we’d make everyone do the right thing, wouldn’t we?

Which kind of man do you think is the kind of man that will bear more fruit for the Kingdom of God?  Will it be the man that corrected the things of his past getting things right with God in every way he knows how or the man that only says he wants to do the right things?

We will meet winners and be glad we met them.  When we read about or hear about the losers we’ll pray for them asking God to help them do the right things before it’s too late.  If we want to be winners we will make right choices.

We’ll bear it in mind that being a winner for God’s kingdom is something that starts within us.  If we listen to the Holy Spirit of God who lives in us we will obey God’s voice.  People that obey God do the best they can to do the right things.

In my opinion a real winner walks with God daily.  The winner has peace in his heart because he not only knows his redeemer lives but his heart is pure before God because he has his sons covered by the blood of the Lamb.  A man that follows God will not knowingly continue to walk in sin.  He will also confess his sins.

They ask this question often: “What Would Jesus Do?”   The answer is simple: “Jesus Always Does Good Things.”

Remember you cannot serve two masters.  Choose who you will serve.  Follow God and be a winner or follow the devil and reap eternal damnation.

Faith Increased

Friday, April 30th, 2010

My faith is being increased.

I heard a woman give testimony on the television tonight.  Her testimony encouraged me.  An hour or so later I heard a man giving testimony on the television.  My faith was increased again.

I felt led to start praying.  My youngest daughter wrote about how faith comes by hearing the Word of God.  The truth of God’s Word increasing our faith built me up some more.

Did you know that all things are possible with God?  Can you believe that God can make all things work together for good?  Are you able to trust God to do the things that are impossible for us to accomplish?

Believe God’s Word is true.  Take steps of faith doing the right things you know God wants you to do.  God will take care of the miracles.  Just do the right and good things you know God wants you to do and watch God go into action.

Our God is a miracle working God.   There is nothing impossible for God.    Great things happen to those who believe.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Today I talked with a woman of God on the phone.

She let me know she’d be keeping me in her prayers.  I had called her about something else and we ended up talking about the Lord.  I let her know I was in need of some quiet time with the Lord.

I’ve had some days of suffering lately.  I pray for days of healing.

She said something that caught my attention.  I wasn’t able to write it down so I’ll have to type it now by memory.

She said something like this:  “While we are being crucified it’s hard to see the resurrection.”

Thanks to Sister Stone for sharing that with me today.

I pondered on those words an hour or so after she shared that with me.  I began to go from thoughts of sorrow to thoughts of rejoicing.  Thinking about how we must die to our selfish ways is not pleasant.  Recalling that Jesus suffered and died for us doesn’t make us happy.  The thought of Jesus being whipped for us and remembering how He was treated wrongly is not a joyous thought.  The joy comes after we think about the resurrection.  The resurrection power shows us that death could not keep our Jesus in the ground.

I’m not actually being crucified like Jesus was.  Praise God for that.  I have just had a number of sad tidings come my way.  The sad things have caused me more grief than I wanted to have.  To think of what Sandy Stone said gives me a positive perspective about what God has planned.

Lord, Keep Me As The Apple Of Thine Eye

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Psalm 17:8&9, “Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, from the wicked who oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass about me.”

The Lord is our Keeper.

No one can keep us from danger like He can.  No one else spells it all out for us so beautifully.

He says we are as the apple of His eye.

A friend of mine sent me word today about how he wants to be remembered if God shows me favor.  We all sort of kid around about how we want to be remembered if one of our friends or family members gets fame or fortune of any kind.

All I could think of is how the things of this world won’t last forever.  I went on to remember that the heavenly rewards God has in store for us are far more valuable than anything that we can get on earth.

I’m not seeking a quick entrance into heaven until it’s God’s time to take me to that heavenly home.  I do like to ponder on the reality of what is to come.  We have a home waiting for us in heaven.  There will be no more sorrow, no more tears, no more evil actions, and  no more con games from slick individuals that seek to devour others.

In heaven we will be able to be with the Lord forever.  The Lord who gave His own life for us so we could have rewards that last forever.  Life everlasting as promised to us by the Creator of the Universe.

I do have a home in gloryland that outshines the sun.  There is a home  waiting for me where I can rejoice without having another moment of pain or sorrow.  These things are so real to me.

I’ve asked the Lord to keep me as the apple of His eye.  I’ve continued to pray that He will hide me in the shelter of His wings.  My trust is in the Living God to protect me from mortal enemies.  Even though I’ve put my trust in God to keep me safe I do know there is an appointed time for all things.  God is the keeper of my soul.  God is the one who holds my times in His hands.  When it is His time for me to leave this old earth I know there is a better home  waiting for me.

These are not just words from songs I’ve heard for years.  These words ring within my own heart.  I hear the Lord speak within me telling me that He cares for us with an undying love that death cannot destroy.  There is no second death for those that believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I don’t serve a buddha or an unnamed higher power.  My Lord and Savior Is Jesus Christ of Nazareth.  Jesus is the true One  & Only Son of God.  He died on the cross for my sins.  He  was raised from the dead on the third day after He paid the price for our sins.  He is alive forever.  He sits at the right hand of God.

Jesus sits at the right hand of God interceding for us even now.  He hasn’t forgotten us.  We are not strangers to Him.  Jesus is Lord.  Those who believe in Jesus will not be disappointed.

We’re not supposed to be afraid of anyone that can harm the body.  We are to fear the Living Lord of all who has control of the soul.

If all you care about is the things this world has to offer you will be sadly disappointed.  If you do not fear the Lord you may obtain riches, wealth, or other joys this world has but those things will not last forever.  If you don’t get right with God you will suffer the consequences.

What?  Did I really type that for everyone to be able to read?  Yes, I did.  It’s the truth.  The truth sets people free.  Without truth permeating through your being constantly you suffer.

I know for I have seen  how people suffer when they don’t walk in truth at all times.  They vaccilate back and forth being tormented by the lies of the enemy. They sometimes think they’ve got the world in the palm of their hands.  They actually think they can control the course of their lives and possibly the lives of others.  They forget that even if they gain things of this world their lives will one day be required of them.  They will answer to the Living Lord of all.

The sheep will be separated from the goats.  No amount of manipulation or words of rationalization thought up by man will work when facing the King of Kings.  God knows everything.  God knows all hearts and everything will be brought into the light.

Numbers 32 says if you have sinned against the Lord you can be sure your sin will find you out.

God wants to keep you as the apple of His eye.  God is the one who wants to save the sinner’s soul.  Don’t be deceived by the enemy.  Don’t let anyone cause you to think that you can be saved without repentance.

Confessing sins and repenting is all part of putting the Lord on the throne of your heart.  If you are not willing to confess of your sins how can you be saved?

If people don’t acknowledge their need for healing how will they be healed?

Had A Little Talk With Jesus

Friday, April 9th, 2010

I had a little talk with the Lord a bit ago.

I told him about my concerns and fears.

When I talk with the Lord the conversation is continuous if there are no other interruptions.

Someone recently wrote about putting things in the GOD CAN can.  I made some of those cans before.

You coat a tin can with paint or paper and write the words GOD CAN on the side of it.  You are supposed to cast your cares upon the Lord by writing your prayer needs on paper and toss them in your GOD CAN to remind you that God is able to take care of all our needs.

I kept telling the Lord about some things I want tended to right now.  I can be quite persistent in prayer sometimes.  All of a sudden I thought about the GOD CAN again and I said, “MY GOD CAN!”

My God can handle all my needs.  My God is able.  My God can do what no one else can do.  MY GOD CAN!

I thought about the Biblical story where people called on all their gods to try to bring fire down to burn up their offering.  They did everything they could to get help from their false gods.  You know the rest of the story, don’t you?  The false gods could not produce fire.  Their gods didn’t have the power.

Our God was then called upon to send fire from heaven.  Here is what is written in I Kings 18:36-39 about Elijah calling on Our God to send fire:

“36And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. 37Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.38Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.”39And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.”

There was no large amount of fanfare necessary to get God to do this wondrous thing.  Trumpets didn’t have to be sounded in order for this to occur.  God instantly sent the fire.  God orchestrated the circumstances to begin with.  God was fully in charge.

God’s Word still gives life to faith.  God helped me today when I took the time to have a talk with Him.  He gave me inspiration to give serious thought to the fact that OUR GOD CAN.  OUR GOD CAN DO ANYTHING!

I repeat words that help me focus on the positive instead of the negative.  There are enough negative things going on around us that I find I have to dwell on the good to get rid of the bad.

If sad or bad news has entered your thought realm have a talk with Jesus.  Tell Him all about your concerns.  God said to cast your cares on Him because He is able to tend to all things in the best way possible.

I”ve had times of fear.  I’ve walked in confusion before.  God doesn’t give us fear.  God doesn’t give us confusion. God does not give these things to us so we have to recognize where those thoughts come from and we have to do something about them.

I typed all of that to expose the fact that we are all human.  We all have to have times when we draw upon God for strength.  Taking time to talk with the Lord and to meditate upon faith filled words that come from Him will help us dispel our fears.

No one wants to walk in fear.

I am so glad JESUS died on the cross for our sins.

Have You Seen MEET THE ROBINSONS ?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

My grandson wanted to see a movie.  He walked over to the dvd rack and picked out a movie he had not seen before.  He picked the Disney movie called “Meet the Robinsons.”

How did God let that happen?  How is that the child’s movie could be used by God to minister to me?  I saw things taught in the Bible coming forth in that movie.  Some may wonder how that happened.  I just accept it all as a happy thing that helped me focus on good today.

The movie has words on the dvd box that say, “A dazzling vision of the future”  -  It’s true that God tells us things in the Bible that tell us our future is expected to be a bright one.

If you have not seen the movie yet you may want to view it soon.

I can leave a few words on here to help others know what stood out to me during the movie.

  1. God’s Word says we are to put the past behind us and we are to press on – the movie mentions a motto about how we are to KEEP MOVING FORWARD.
  2. God’s Word tells us that THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE – Those words are spoken in this movie.
  3. We are told in God’s Word that WE NEED TO MAKE RIGHT CHOICES KNOWING WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE FOR OUR OWN ACTIONS.  This is also mentioned in this movie.
  4. The movie also proclaims something else that we know is true.  A person must accept responsibility for their own actions.  Some people call this stepping up to the plate.  God’s Word tells us in I John 1:9 we are to confess our sins & then we know God will forgive us and cleanse us.  If we have a bad habit of blaming others for our sins/mistakes/errors then we cannot be free from the sin that so easily entangles us.

I heard words in songs shared in this movie that reminded me that we are to let go.  How many people talk about letting go and letting God take care of things?  It is important for us to remember God is in control of all things.

The movie also shows that if the mind is allowed to be controlled by bad thoughts bad things will occur.  We have a need to focus on good things.  God not only wants us to have good thoughts but He wants us to carry out good things while we are on this earth.

Faith VS Fear – Encouragement VS Discouragement

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Faith is believing in what you cannot see.  Faith is trusting in the God we cannot see. We are trusting God to help us do things that seem impossible without His help.   He supports us by encouraging us.  His Holy Word gives us faith to do impossible things.  There are examples of things God has done to help others written in the pages of the Bible.  We should support one another by sharing the encouraging messages God gives us in His Word.  We should always be prepared to give helpful words to one another.

Sharing testimonies of what God has done for us are other ways we can encourage people.

Fear is the opposite of faith.  Fear constricts us and keeps us from freely enjoying the blessings God has for us.

We will feel discouraged and it is possible that we will be ones that offer discouragement rather than encouragement if we don’t learn to focus on the faith filled Words and thoughts God gives us.

These thoughts are being shared by Elizabeth Wolfe

I hope these thoughts help you.

When The Devil Reminds Me Of My Past Sins

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

A Christian friend of mine said when the devil reminds her of her past she reminds him of his future.

Ha…….. That is a good one.  I think I’ll rebuke that old devil if evil taunting thoughts come my way.  Once I’ve asked God to forgive me and I’ve done all I can do to make things right with anyone I may have harmed I want to put the past behind me.

It’s not easy to put the past behind us but it is possible.

Believe God!  Have faith in God.  It is impossible to please God without faith.

Faith, Fear, And Obedience To God

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

We know that faith is the substance of things hoped for the conviction of things unseen.  The just are known to live by faith.

We also know that fear is opposite of faith.  God’s perfect love also casts out fear.

God also tells us He wants us to be obedient more than he wants sacrifices.  God’s Word is clear telling His people that the one who knows the right thing to do and doesn’t do it is walking in sin.

These thoughts came to me after fasting and praying lately:

If we are going to walk in faith then we are going to have to dispel fear.  There is only one fear the Bible tells me can be a part of my life.  The fear of the Lord is the only fear I should own.

Recently I wrote about how I made my largest mistakes when I was moved by fear.  I was thinking of how the enemy really got a hold of me when I was weakened in so many ways after my husband’s death.

I was weak in so many areas while people were telling me how strong I was.  They didn’t know how weak I was.  My earthly protector and helper was gone.  My life was turned upside down.  I had to learn how to lean on God more than I ever had in my life and I wasn’t doing a very good job of it.

Job knew what it was like to have his life flipped upside down.  Job was in anguish as he struggled to deal with the sorrows and pains that came his way.  His friends supposed he must have done something wrong and yet he was without fault for in his case the enemy had been allowed to do anything except for those things God would not allow.

I believe there are times we walk in faith and we do all we can to do what we believe is right and we can end up knowing some of the sorrows that Job knew. I also believe there are times when our faith wanes because the cares of  this world are on our minds and we forget the promises of God.  Fear grips us as we try to cope with everything and we strive to handle things ourselves. OH we, Christians, know about prayer and asking for prayer but there are still times when we forget to rest in the Lord waiting on Him to show us divine direction so He can guide us.

I did everything I thought was right after my husband’s death but I failed to do everything exactly right.  I know God understands where I was and what was going on around me.  God understood every fear.  God understood why I goofed in all the ways I goofed.  I moved out of my other home too quickly.  I rushed here and there scurrying to do what I knew was right while forgetting that God wasn’t rushing me.  I was putting pressure on myself that God did not give me.  That is how I made so many mistakes.  I suffered some heartaches and struggles needlessly.

Okay, so we are human and we make mistakes.

We can still learn from our mistakes.  It is our merciful God who tells us we can come to Him asking for help when we see the need for help.  We also need to take time to listen to His voice for He talks to His sheep.

I felt the Lord also reminded me that there are times when we get an attack from the enemy because of not walking in perfect love.  If one is to walk in perfect love they should be walking in faith doing what they believe is right no matter what they see others doing.

If God convicts you of a sin  and you disobey Him then you are opening the door to the enemy.  Perfect love is gone in an area of your life and you have allowed the enemy to walk right in taking residence in your life in some form.

When the enemy comes in like a flood ask the Lord how the enemy got so much control over your thought realm.  That is one of the ways the enemy attacks us.  He can send bad and negative thoughts your way causing you to hear voices other than the voice of God.  His negative reports can cause more damage than some of the plagues that hit the Egyptians.  Losing your peace of mind is not pleasant.

God wants us to walk in obedience to His Word so we can walk in that perfect love receiving things from him instead of things from the enemy.

Remember God says we are to draw near to Him and He will draw near to us.  If God is near to us we can hear Him better.  He also tells us to resist the devil.

The devil is the author of lies, deception, and all things that are against God.  If you are struggling with hearing negative thoughts that are causing you confusion know that it’s possible it’s time to call on God asking him for help to get rid of the things that are not of God.

The Pastor told us at church that the enemy seeks whom he may devour and the enemy attacks the mind.

Let’s all pray for the mind of Christ Jesus.  Let’s continue reading the Word of God so we can have good thoughts going through our minds and so we can discern good from evil.

God be with you as you walk in faith not fear.  May the good Lord help you be obedient to Him.

If per chance you see an area in your life where you’ve allowed the devil and his cohorts to get a foothold in your life may it be that you will call on God seeking deliverance.

I John 1: 9 is the spot to go if you need to know confession of sin to God brings God into the situation ready to deliver you from it.

If you are a child of God you want to draw near God to hear His voice.  You will also want to resist the devil knowing he will flee.  The devil only acts like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.  The enemy of God’s people is a defeated foe.

JESUS in you is greater than he that is in the world.

Joshua 1:9
