If Only

I saw the FIREPROOF movie.  It was a good movie.

They have a book called the The Love Dare that is meant to be used by people that would like to salvage or help their marriage.

I knew about someone that wanted to use the book without first getting things straightened up in his life.  He was very good at telling other people what they needed to do to be in line with what he thought was right and good but he was not very good at just doing the right thing himself. He had control issues.  It was as though he thought he could use the book to get his wife to think once again that he was really trying to do the right thing.  Her eyes were opened to see that he had no intention on doing the right thing he just kept going through the motions to try to make her believe he cared about her and the things of God.

They say the proof is in the pudding.  Actions still speak louder than words.  You can scream and shout and tell other people you care for them but until you are willing to do the right things your words will be empty.

I thought about the man in the movie.  That man didn’t expect his wife to do anything for him by time he took the Fireproof challenge.  He did the right thing to save his marriage no matter how his wife acted.  That’s what the movie is all about.  It’s a man doing what he knows is right no matter what anyone else says or does.  He loved his wife enough to keep her by doing the right things.  He changed his own life and realized he had to let her decide if she wanted her new & changed man or not.

When I found the copy of The Love Dare that I purchased  I had many emotions go through my mind for a few minutes.  The writing here is a result of what I saw.

If a man chooses to do the right things God will help him be blessed in a multitude of ways.  Where God guides He does provide.  If man chooses to continue to do things his own way he will not know the joy of following God with all his heart.

I also thought about the man that was once noted for saying that he wanted to quit going through the motions.  What a sad life it is for people that are like robots just going through the motions.  When you are led by the Spirit of God you are not like a robot living to please self or other people.  God’s Holy Spirit leads you to do the right thing.  Doing the right thing brings peace and contentment even if others do not follow.

Remember a cord of three strands is not easily broken.  God’s love flowing through two people is the cord of three strands.  If both people don’t apply God’s love the bond is shredded.

God can heal anything.  God can fix or repair things man cannot fix.  Learn the love of the Lord and learn how to show it and apply it to your life.  Once you are able to do what you know is right you will begin to know what real life is all about.

Some people that are abusive can tell you all about the way(s) they’ve been abused as if it’s an excuse/reason for why they abuse other people. If they choose to pass it on they have made a wrong choice. I say, “Don’t become their victim.” God doesn’t want you to be a doormat for someone else to walk all over.

It is true that Abuse in realtionships is not okay!

I Hope New Laws Are Formed

When someone witnesses a murder they should tell the authorities.  I read about this new law they are talking about making in PA.  Don’t they already have laws like this in most states?

Jesus said we should treat other people the way we want treated.  If someone witnessed a murder of your family member wouldn’t you want them to tell the authorities about it?

Have You Heard His Still Small Voice?

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

I Kings 19 –  1And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

2Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.

3And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.

4But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

5And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

6And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

7And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

8And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

9And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

10And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

11And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

12And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

13And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

14And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

15And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:

16And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.

17And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.

18Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

19So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.

20And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?

21And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.

People say a lot of things are in the Bible.  For a long time I heard them speak of God’s still small voice.  Have you ever heard His still small voice?

I suppose some people figure God is big so He’s going to speak loudly.  He can speak loudly if He wants to we are sure of that.  Yet often we must realize He still speaks in a still small voice.  He doesn’t have to yell to get anyone’s attention.

Malachi

Friday, June 25th, 2010

I read from the book of Malachi this morning.

There are wonderful things written in that book of the Bible.

There’s hope for those that are discouraged over the evil things going on in the world around us.

God knows those who walk uprightly.  God sees the ones that do evil.  The evil ones will surely have an opportunity to turn from evil but if they don’t turn from their evil ways God will hold them accountable.

Those who walk doing all they know is right to do can be assured that their good deeds will also be rewarded.

I Am Happy & Blessed

God is so good.

I’m happy to be alive, thankful God is real, and glad He didn’t plant us on the ground alone expecting us to be like hermits.

I Read The Statue Built Was Burned Down

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

They called the statue something like “Touchdown Jesus” because it was what man felt Jesus looked like with his hands reaching up into the sky.

Maybe God wanted to get people’s attention.  He has a way of doing that.

Our faith is not in images of any kind.  The things of this old earth will pass away.  God’s Word will last forever.

What a wonderful reminder that nothing on this earth is worth losing eternal life for.

Jesus came that we might have life.  Life isn’t based on material objects.

Ask someone that was tortured or imprisoned because of their faith in God if any of the things they have acquired while being on this earth are important to them.

The love of money and the things it can buy is the root of all evil.  If people make things more important to them than living a righteous life then they lose sight of the everlasting way.

I’m interested in seeing what other Christians have to say now that the statue is gone.   It makes me wonder what kind of things God will bring into the light concerning why He allowed lightning to strike that object.

Whether they build a new statue or not makes no difference to me.  What matters to me is whether or not they will keep sharing the Word of God at the place of worship where the statue once stood.

Thinking of the song that has those famous words in it that goes like this:  “Our faith is based on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness. . . ”

We’re All Different & It’s A Good Thing

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

God knows each one of us by name.   He knows the number of hairs on our heads.   He knows where we’ve been and where we are going.  He knows why we do what we do.  He knows everything we’re made of.

He made each one of us  in a special way.  We are not all alike.

We are intricately and wonderfully made.  We have our differences.

Isn’t it wonderful the way God made us?
