God Is Alive

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

God is not deaf. God is not dumb. God can speak and God can hear. God’s hand is not too short to save us.

Oh how the Israelites must have wondered when God would hear and answer their cries for help when King Ahab was ruling over Israel.

Ahab was a mean and wicked ruler. He did detestable things including his decision to serve baal.

Have you ever known of someone or a set of people that have done things that you know are displeasing to God? Have you ever thought about how strange it seems that those people seem to get blessings even though they’ve done things that are wrong?

It’s difficult to understand why God lets the evil ones appear as though they are being blessed.

Psalm 37 tells us not to fret because of evildoers. The time will come when they will fall. They will be cut down. They may try to shoot an arrow at the God fearing ones but their arrows will hit their own hearts. Their bows will be broken.

Okay okay so we don’t see a lot of people using bow and arrows any longer. Those are not usual weapons of choice today. The message given in Psalm 37 is clear though.

God knows everything that is going on around us. God knows the ones that are doing evil. He knows all their evil plans and schemes.

In Psalm 37 we are instructed to delight ourselves in the Lord. We are not supposed to fret over the ways of the wicked ones. Know that the Lord sees the end of the wicked ones. The Lord will cut them off.

Ahab is not the only wicked man that saw a bitter end. The wicked ones will meet our Maker. The sheep will be separated from the goats. There will be no time for rationalization before the King of Kings.

God is a Holy and just God. God knows all things. God will not forget anything that needs remembered.

I’ve met people that like to dwell on the true fact that God forgives sins. Jesus died on the cross for us all. We have all sinned coming short of the glory of God. Those words are all true. It’s just that some of the people I’ve met that know the words I just typed seem to forget that God says we are to repent of wrongdoing. God wants our sins to be confessed. If we say we have not sinned we are calling God a liar.

To repent means to turn completely away from the sins of the past. If one repents of their sin they hate the sin. They not only recognize that the ugly sin is against God but they know it is evil. Those who love the Lord hate evil.

Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30, Ezekiel 18:30, Hebrews 6:4-6, 2 Corinthians 7:12, & Acts 3:19
are some passages that may encourage one to turn from wicked ways & to repent.

I’ve heard that some people think it is very possible a person may be allowed to live on the earth long enough to have an opportunity to repent of the things they’ve done that are wrong.

I can’t say that I know the perfect answers to the many questions we have about why mean people are allowed to appear as though they are getting away with the wrong things they have done. I just know that God does not make mistakes.

God will tend to the evil ones. He will take care of things in perfect ways and at perfect times.

When you are faced with seeing how wicked another person or sets of people can act get your eyes on JESUS. It isn’t easy to keep your eyes on our Loving Lord when a few people on this earth have done things to hurt you or the people you love but it is the best thing to do.

Trust in the Lord. Commit your way to Him. Delight yourself in the Lord. Know that your steps are being ordered by the Lord. God is faithful. God will watch over His Word to perform it. The Lord Your God is Your Redeemer. God is alive.

God Is Our Kinsman Redeemer

Monday, April 19th, 2010

I found notes I wrote months ago.  It was in these notes where I found things about God being our kinsman redeemer.

I always liked the story of Ruth because it’s every Christian woman’s dream to have a man of God like Boaz in her life.  She seeks for a man that will take care of her the way Boaz carefully watched out for Ruth and her mother-in-law, Naomi.

Boaz was well known for his Godliness.

There came a time when Naomi told Ruth that Boaz would not rest until he fulfilled promises that he made.

WOW!  Boaz was a  man of his word.  Boaz could be trusted to do what he said he would do.

The Boaz in the Bible story is an example of what kind of God we serve.

This God of ours is faithful to His Word.  God will do everything He says He will do.  Our God can be trusted.

God Will Not Be Mocked

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Galatians 6:7 & 8, Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”

This is one of my favorite passages.

If you plant good seeds you will get good fruit.  If you plant bad seeds you know what it will produce.

The Tongue May Be Small But O The Power It Holds

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

,James 3:4-5,“Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

Proverbes 18:20-22,“A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.”

Proverbs 12:17-19, “He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit. There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”

The tongue can be used to bring healing or harm.  There is so much power in the tongue that we are told that death and life are in it’s power.  Even though it is small it is compared to the rudder on a ship.

Have you ever been persuaded by the words of another person?  Did you later find out that the words they spoke held no value?

As a Christian it is best to be determined to speak words of health and truth when you speak. When your lips speak the truth you will be established forever.

We’ve all seen and heard of the damage that can come from lies being told.  Be certain to know that the lies of liars won’t last long.  God’s Word tells  us that all things that are hidden shall be brought into the light.  Take a look at a couple of Scriptures I just reviewed:

Job 28:11, “He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.”   &  I Corinthians 4:5, “Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.”

The power of the tongue can be used for good or for evil.

These Signs Will Follow Believers

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Mark 16 tells us the signs that will follow believers.

These signs still follow believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

God is not dead.  The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is the same spirit that raises us from death to life.  We can have a victorious joy filled Christian life because Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

We can sing and shout those words, “I’m so glad Jesus set me free. I’m singing glory halleluia Jesus set me free.” and “satan had me bound but Jesus set me free. I’m singing glory halleluia Jesus set me free.”

If you are living in bondage or you know someone who is remember that the blood of Jesus washes us white as snow.  Demons have to flee and every knee will bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.  There is no power anywhere that is able to separate you from the love of God.

God will watchover His Word to perform it

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

I was thinking about How God watches over His Word to perform it.

God says He will do this watching over His Word to perform it.  I’ve heard that spoken aloud so many times.

I had a thought come to my mind about how He is the one doing the watching over His Word.  He is the one that will perform it.  If He watches over His Word ( I do believe He does) then I don’t need to guard/watch over His Word as if to remind Him of His promises.

God’s memory works fine.  God’s power to do what He says He will do is fine.  God doesn’t need my help to fulfill His promises.

Sometimes, I expect, we are to listen to Him & silently watch as He does things He says He will do.

Those very thoughts made me feel relief this morning.

I don’t know how I ever got misguided to think I had to be the one in charge of whether or not God does certain things.

I’m just glad I’m reminded that He can and will do things His way.  His ways are much higher and wiser than my own.   He is able to do more than any of us can ask or think.
