Do You Have Confidence In Your Child’s Ability?

Friday, March 12th, 2010

I Chronicles 22:5, “5And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.”

David recognized that his Son, Solomon, was young so David began to help Solomon by getting things ready to help Solomon accomplish the things David knew his son was supposed to do.

When I first read this Scripture I was taken aback by the things David said about his son.  When I  read that David said Solomon was young and tender I thought David did not have confidence in Solomon to believe that Solomon could do what he was required to do.  I read more finding that David did not lack confidence in Solomon.  David was just recognizing the fact that Solomon was going to have need of some things to help him get started.

David gave Solomon much support to help this son of his to be ready to do what God predicted Solomon was going to do.

David knew God would be faithful to fulfill His promises.  David showed his faith in God’s Word by helping prepare Solomon in every way possible.

I analyzed the words of David in a new way after I gave thought to more of the Scriptures shared in I Chronicles 22.

David knew his son was young and inexperienced but David also realized that God would be helping Solomon carry out the task God called Solomon to do.

A Prayer For Your Child(ren) From I Chronicles 22

Friday, March 12th, 2010

I was reading from I Chronicles 22 this morning.  I saw the three verses where David prayed for Solomon. I then  thought about the importance of praying for our children.

David knew God had a special work for His Son, Solomon, to accomplish.  Here are the words David spoke concerning Solomon:

I Chronicles 22:11-13, “11Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath said of thee.12Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God.13Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.

It’s good that we have examples of how we can pray for our children.  God has a call on the lives of our children.  God wants them to obey Him so they can prosper doing whatever God has called them to do.  We can pray that our children will be strong and courageous and we can tell them to take courage not being afraid.

I did mull over the fact that David’s instructions to Solomon were that Solomon should obey the Lord and he should take heed to fulfill the statures and judgments of God for this goes with prospering in accomplishing what God calls someone to do.

David was giving His Son thoughts of support and encouragement to do the right thing. These three Scriptures don’t only suggest to me how I can pray for my own children they remind me of the responsibility a parent has to inspire their child(ren) to follow the leading of the Lord.

God Is

I was thinking about what God is and what God is not this day.

I decided to use some of the custom characters found on the WordPress and words from the Bible to help me focus on truths I believe about God.

God is greater than ( > ) any problem I could ever have.  He is greater than anyone anywhere.  He is more powerful than any foe.  God is great!

God knows my heart ( ♥ ) and He can create a clean heart ( ♥ ) within me.

God can multiply ( × ) things both good and bad.  God is not mocked; whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.

God does divide (÷ ) light from darkness and the sheep will be divided from the goats.

God is identical to ( ≡ ) perfection.  God is good.

Revelation 1:8, “I am Alpha ( α ) and Omega ( Ω ) , the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”  God is the beginning and the end.

God is not equal to ( ≠ ) one who deceives.  God is not the author of lies or confusion.

When I wrote this today I thought about my Granddaughter,  Anita.  She is becoming a writer. She has been working hard in school to practice writing.  I pray she can call on God asking Him to inspire her to write good things.  God created the earth and all it contains.  God gives talents to people so they can use those talents for His glory.  Please join me in praying she will become a skillful writer for the Lord.

Are You Acting Like a Prodigal Son Or Daughter?

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Today we read about the prodigal son.  Our Bible study reminded us of things that I’d like to share.

The prodigal son left home (he not only left the comforts of home but he went his own way probably because he didn’t like following the rules at home and he did not appreciate how good it was where he was) and he went his own way.

If you’ve heard the story before you already know that the p. son found out that the grass was a lot browner on the other side.  As a matter of fact he found out that after he wasted all of his earthly inheritance things were pretty barren where he ended up living.  He was so hungry he realized his Dad’s servants were eating better than he was.

He planned on admitting his error and decided to go back to his Dad’s house hoping he could at least work as a servant for his Dad.  He was realizing his former way of living was better than the life he had chosen for himself.

My husband pointed out the fact that the father in this story was looking for his son.  The Bible says that the father saw his son from afar.  He must have been looking for him eagerly awaiting his return.  The father was overjoyed that his son was coming back.  The words of the father actually tell that the father knew the son had left death and come back to life.

” Luke 15:24For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.”

God eagerly waits for those that have strayed from the right path that will give them life.  God wants people to come back to Him.  He wants us to follow His ways.  He won’t force the issue.

A person can choose to do things their own way if they want to.  They can also choose to come back to God once they see how their ways are not working out so well for them.

God is so forgiving.  His mercy never ends.  If you’ve strayed from Godly teachings or you see where you’ve neglected to appreciate the way of living you know God intends for you to be a part of come back to God.

Come back to God asking Him to allow you to be a servant of His.  You won’t be disappointed.  All who call on the Lord will be saved.  God will give you everything you need to follow Him.  God will accept you, forgive you, clean you up, and He will be with you always.

Being separated from our Heavenly Father is the greatest pain one can ever know.  Won’t you come back to the Lord today?

Train Your Children To Know God

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Your children and your grandchildren are supposed to be taught about God.

It is the parent’s responsibility to teach their children about the Lord. One of the best ways to train them is by showing them the right way to live.

Anyone that loves the Lord wants their family to know how wonderful God is.
