Galatians 5:13-26, “13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”
I had a talk with a few pastors recently. I was in need of much wisdom when I faced a very serious issue. I knew it’s true that actions speak louder than words. I have told other people how important it is for us to back up our beliefs with positive actions. These pastors took time to remind me that a Christian is known by the things they do. One of them actually talked about noticing if a man is truly walking with the Lord or not by watching to see how the man acts.
The world adopted a phrase that is spoken often and yet the meaning is found in the Bible. People may simply say, “Actions Speak Louder Than Words.” The Bible says that You Will Know Them By Their Fruit or You Will Know Them By The Love They Show. In Galatians we see where a person’s actions show if they are walking after their own selfish fleshly desires or if they are walking with the Holy Spirit of God.
If you call yourself a Christian and you are not spending your time fulfilling the great command to love God first and love one another then you are not following God.
If you walk in the church, pay your tithe, go off to foreign lands to build buildings or to translate the gospel but you are not showing God’s love in your own home you are failing to do what God desires. If people do not hear good words come out of your mouth and they don’t see you doing the right thing then you are not walking the way God wants you to walk.
I want to say it this way, “What part of treat others the way you want to be treated don’t you understand?” I’d like to ask you to consider carefully the words that come out of your mouth.
We are not all perfected yet. We all have room for improvement. It’s just important for us to motivate one another to do our very best. If you expect little from someone you are apt to get very little from them. If you give them an invitation to do the best they can do they may surprise you by making the grade.
When I share my feelings with you on this site know that it is my earnest desire that you will do your very best to do the right thing at all times. God blessed me with some wonderful God fearing encouragers in my past and I want to pass that on to you. I have some good Godly counselors today, too. God fearing counselors agree with what the Bible says.
Let your actions show you fear God. Let the things you do glorify God. May it be that when other people remember you they will know they’ve met a person that is enthusiastic about doing the right thing. It’s always good to show God’s love to other people.
